Is your brain struggling to express your ideas with suitable words?

It’s common amongst creative people like writers.

You helplessly stare at the blank screen of your laptop, and words hardly cross your mind.

This phase of yours is known as Writer’s Block or Creative Block.

I am not here to bore you with what it is or what are the common causes of this condition.

But to help you find a set of solutions (which I would like to call Cheat Codes) that worked for me.

CHEAT CODE 1:

Detachment from Social Media

Whenever I decide to write my content, the first thing I do is switch off my smartphone. More often, when I find it hard to be creative.

Switch off your smartphone and create a 2-hour focused period for yourself. You can check all your social media notifications later.

Fight your FOMO and keep distractions at bay.

CHEAT CODE 2:

Detachment from Ambient Sound

I am a very sharp-eared person. I easily get distracted by ambient noise or loud talk on the corner of the street.

Whenever I sit down to work on my content writing, I keep my earphones handy.

There are millions of white noises and nature sounds that you can find in your favourite Music app, but I prefer rain sounds the most.

I completely shut down all the audible distractions that might distract me.

CHEAT CODE 3:

Keep Yourself Hydrated

I always keep a bottle of water ready by my side.

We all know water is good for our bodies. But it’s good for our brains as well.

73% of the human brain and 60% of the human body consist of water. A 1–3% loss of bodily fluid can affect cognitive abilities.

So writers, be ready with a bottle of water every time you sit down to write your article.

CHEAT CODE 4:

Keep Your Workplace Well Lit

I keep my work desk just in front of a window, where lots of bright sunlight comes through.

It’s because our body has an internal clock, called the circadian rhythm, that regulates the sleep-wake cycle. This Circadian rhythm is regulated by light exposure.

Working in dimly lit areas sends a negative signal to the brain that it’s still night time. Thus, our brain tends to lose focus, and we feel sleepy.

So it’s best to work under bright light or in front of an open window with enough sunlight coming through it.

CHEAT CODE 5

Use Artificial Intelligence

When I am out of words or new inspiration, I use AI tools like ChatGPT, Gemini or Claude. I treat them as my writing assistants, which helps me in researching my topic.

It helps me to express myself correctly by suggesting the right words.

Believe it or not, AI is here to stay.

And it’s becoming increasingly advanced over time. So we should learn to incorporate AI into our workflow.

CHEAT CODE 6

Do Mindfulness Meditation

When nothing works for me, I give it a rest and meditate for a few minutes.

Yes, it actually helps.

I find it helpful every time I go through this non-creative phase.

You should try it too.

I believe it will be beneficial for you as well. If you are a beginner and don’t have much experience in meditation, then you can try out Mindfulness Meditation.

It’s easy and effective.

It’s something you must try out just before you start writing your blog.

Including it in your daily routine and making it a mandatory habit can help you eliminate pointless distractions from your mind, hence improving concentration, creativity, and mental clarity.

Writer’s Block is only a phase that’s going to pass naturally with time. In my opinion, it’s one way for our minds to let off steam and reset themselves.

I hope this article was helpful.

Thanks for reading.
